To Understand Router/Switch SFP Tx and Rx Light Level

Benchmark Good Tx and Tx Power Level


Fiber power need to be within threshold value, it can't be too high or too low.

Transmit(Tx) power is good when it is in range between -1dBm and -7 dBm.

Receive(Rx) power is expected between - 1dBm and -9.9 dBm.

Practical

Next activity :

1) To measure direct SFP output power from Switch lab using power meter
2) To check SFP power Tx from CLI and compare with Power meter reading, the different will be loss from fiber cable use to connect switch SFP port and power meter.


Application :

1) Able to understand what is good power reading and have some ideal if power loss. which elements caused the loss ( SFP ?, fiber cable ? or others ?)
